MD+B designed and built this 3-story beach home with high ceilings, large windows and roof deck over a 2-car garage
3920 Ocean Dr, Hollywood Beach, CA

PROJECT: CUSTOM HOME Design+Build - Hollywood Beach, CA

To realize this 3-story vacation home out of a beach shack tear-down, our collaborative design phase brought the owners’ vision to life. We meticulously crafted a custom design that met their aesthetic and functional needs while optimizing the limited lot size and natural light from the Pacifc Ocean. Every detail was tailored to the clients’ lifestyle and preferences, resulting in a unique home that truly reflects their personality and taste.

Each phase of construction was executed with precision and creativity, from selecting premium materials to coordinating with skilled craftsmen, ensuring the highest standards. As a result the project was delivered on time and within budget.

PROJECT: RESTORATION & ADDITION - Los Laurelas Grade, Carmel Valley, CA

This mid-Century gem was stuck in the 1980’s when the new owners, a 3-generation family, reached out for help with resolving major code violations that were impeding their purchase of this unique property. By artfully uniting the two existing and mismatched structures, we seamlessly integrated disparate design features, expanding the footprint to re-imagine this exquisite single-family home. From the initial vision to the final permit, we collaborated closely with the family to ensure their lifestyle needs were reflected throughout, providing a cozy and more liveable space that pays tribute to its original design. Moreover, the newly realized home boasts upgraded kitchen and design features that enhance the inherently sublime Carmel Valley experience.

ADU, JADU, Guest Houses & Cabanas

Projects completed include properties in Hancock Park, Mid-Wilshire Los Angeles, San Fernando Valley, Santa Barbara and Ventura, CA. Each structure is unique to its site, compliments the style of the existing home, and meets the expressed requirements of the homeowner. Concepts include stand alone structures, additions to existing houses, re-modeling an interior floor plan or garage, while adding storage space or rooftop entertainment areas. These “tiny homes” may be small in stature but they are large in style and opportunity.

Concept Sketches & Drawings

A great idea starts with a great sketch, and at Meckauer Design+Build, Inc. we believe there is nothing in design as warm and inspiring as a drawing crafted by hand. Through his invaluable education in Architecture at Cal Berkeley, and his years of experience in the field collaborating with architects, engineers, interior designers and landscape architects, Robert has crafted an ability to “build the house” in his mind as he moves his hand across the page. We hope these samples of his passion for architectural design will inspire you to “build your house” in your mind with us.
